[pdftex] Tabular Output Wrong

Hmmmm...

I have installed LaTeX and pdflatex from the Mandrake 8.1 CD's and I 
have a setup similar to:

\begin{tabular}[|c|l|}
\hline
1 & blah & blah blah blah blah foo \\
\hline
\end{tabular}

When I render this using latex -> dvi -> ps or pdflates, LaTeX refuses 
to wrap the words in the last column and chops at least some of the 
last column off.

In the above example, I wouldn't see the "foo" at all...

Any ideas what's happening here?
