DAY 6--FRIDAY, JULY 25, 2003

Workshop--Getting to Know About ConTeXt: Hans Hagen, Giuseppe Bilotta

Those who could not stay on for the hands-on CONTEXT workshop on Friday --missed a very cool and inspiring Introduction to CONTEXT . Hans could have gone on showing us CONTEXT wizardry for days. It was unfortunate that the Ali`i room was needed for another function which caused a rather abrupt and unexpected end. Maybe the next workshop should be a one week CONTEXT Geek Cruise somewhere.

CONTEXT adds modern desktop publishing capabilities as well as support for XML workflows to plain TeX, making it very suitable for automated typesetting. And it provides alternative ways of solving certain problems that would be difficult to solve with (La)TeX. TeX aficionados might want to take a closer look at what CONTEXT has to offer. With the addition of new menu templates in TeXShop, CONTEXT can become more easily accessible to many new users worldwide who can join in on the metafun and the wonders of CONTEXT .

We salute Hans Hagen for his amazing work with CONTEXT complete with an awesome collection of manuals. We thank Hans and Giuseppe Bilotta for staying over an extra day to show us a bit about the power of CONTEXT on Mac OS X.
