Modernizing Computer Modern

Abstract: The Computer Modern fonts are based on a pre-existing font called Modern 8a. ``Based on'' does not mean ``identical to,'' and in my opinion, the originals do an even better job of drawing a reader into a document than do the CM fonts. I plan on discussing methods to make it possible to use the Monotype Modern fonts, which seem to be the sole extant Modern type available indigital format, more usable to TEX and LATEX authors.
