I remember this discussion, though not in all its detail. Just as a  
reminder, am I right in thinking that the issue is basically that some  
fonts have bad hinting entries, and so you're wanting to override them  
to improve the rendering..... it's not something that should ever be  
required if the fonts were built correctly in the first place?
