The question was about transition from xelatex to lualatex and the
microtype support of lualatex is much better than for xelatex. 
(And I never saw a concrete question about something missing, e.g.
"manual expansion" is not something a normal user would ever want to
do). 

pstricks works quite nicely in luatex now.  I know that not
everything works yet in luapstricks, but on the other side xelatex
fails on some complicated stuff too.

No but xelatex is not metric compatible with pdftex either.

Depends. If you compile e.g. the pstricks example from
https://tex.stackexchange.com/q/614129 (for best result as
\DocumentMetadata{} before loading the class) then you can see that
lualatex is **much** faster than xelatex here (and faster than a
latex+dvips+ps2pdf round).
