I have done a quick run through of some very large documents in LuaLaTeX 
and found no need to change anything. However, the documents are 
generated from XML sources, currently post-processed using XeLaTeX, and 
the generated LaTeX code is fairly generic, so I wouldn't expect any 
changes.

That would be most helpful. I don't want to start recommending LuaLaTeX 
after all these years on XeLaTeX if I can't reliably say what might need 
changing.
