[texhax] No room for a new \dimen

etex is not depreceated. it is held of for those situations where you really need it.

And in that case it should be loaded before the documentclass.

Can you provide a minimal example that gives this error?

In private message I was advised to use
\reserveinserts{10}

However \reserveinserts is defined in etex which is deprecated in TL2015;

furthermore, in the *real file* it leads to several new errors

"Dimension too large"

and it appears near figures and with latexmk it happens in different places in each run
