Yes, I saw that.

It's not working for me.

E.g., with

  pandoc -t html `kpsewhich small2e.tex`

the output in a utf-8 terminal is:

  >Words are separated by one or more spaces. Paragraphs are

  >affected by adding extra spaces or extra blank lines to

  >Double quotes are typed like this:

  (Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character)
