Thanks for this tip! It is solved now, I removed package 'enumerate' and
use \usepackage[shortlabels]{enumitem} instead.  

Interestingly, even though earlier I had compilation errors, pdf output
was correct, it was just a bit annoying to go through that many errors
each time.
