Greetings TeXers,

Can someone run

$ mk4ht teimlatex sample2e.tex

on /usr/share/texmf-dist/tex/latex/base/sample2e.tex ... and tell me if it works
for you? Also try

mk4ht teilatex sample2e.tex

without the "m".

I've just tried both and got the following error right at the beginning:

$ mk4ht teimlatex sample2e.tex

htlatex sample2e.tex "xhtml,tei-mml" " -cunihtf" "-cvalidate"

This is a LaTeX error generated even before we get to the two TeX4ht filters
that

are called later, so it points, I think, to a problem with the *.4ht files in

/usr/share/texmf-dist/tex/generic/tex4ht

Is this a known problem? Is there a fix to this?

Now, the TEI (Text Encoding Initiative) XML generation is of special interest
to me, because TEI XML is said to be similar to DTD XML, and DTD XML
is what Tralics is said to generate. So, if I could make TeX4ht generate DTD
XML,
for example, by producing new *.4ht files based on the existing tei*.4ht ones,
I could substitute TeX4ht in place of Tralics in Connexions (cnx.org).
