Very long filename problem

Hi,

    I updated to the latest Ubuntu with TeX Live 2022/dev/Debian. 
    ...
    very long filenames stopped working

Please provide the actual case that failed, and any error messages.

It's improbable that any filesystem-related bug is the same on Windows
and Unix. The code is very different.

In any case, I can't reproduce the two cases in this report with current
(that is, 2022) TL on x86_64-linux (specifically Alma Linux 8.7, but it
shouldn't matter). Either a deep directory name under /tmp, or a long
filename, or both, all worked.

FWIW, the "long" filename in that report is "only" 117
characters, which I wouldn't expect to have problems on any Unix-ish
system.
$ echo identify_conic_sections_written_in_rectangular_coordinates_by_eccentricity_and_write_the_equation_of_the_conic_1.tex|wc
      1       1     117

Running the long directory name with the long filename:

$ xelatex /tmp/abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz/0123456789/abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz/0123456789/abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz/0123456789/abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz/0123456789/abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz/0123456789/abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz/0123456789/abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz/0123456789/identify_conic_sections_written_in_rectangular_coordinates_by_eccentricity_and_write_the_equation_of_the_conic_1.tex
This is XeTeX, Version 3.141592653-2.6-0.999994 (TeX Live 2022) ...
.. reads file fine ...
