showhyphens gone?

It surprised me that showhyphens was removed from Texlive 2022 during a
recent tlmgr update.

[  1/351] auto-remove: showhyphens ... done

Instead I got

[326/351, 01:04:03/01:04:57] auto-install: showhyphenation (63578) [62k] ... done

which seems to be a fine replacement, but still, is it really
intentional that packages are removed like that during an update of the
same release, causing some documents to stop working? (Unless there is
for example a security problem or a license problem.)
