CMap issue in PDF file generated with recent TeX Live + Ghostscript

Thanks for the information. I had already reported the bug
to ghostscript:

  https://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=704478

but I wanted to know whether the issue could be avoidable on the
LaTeX side (and perhaps this could be useful for debugging).

In my tests, I was wondering why \pdfgentounicode=1 no longer had
any effect, so this explains the behavior.

Thanks again. Indeed I had noticed in some of my tests that UTF-8
characters were working without it and was wondering about this.
