pdflatex does not work on win after todays update but does on linux

Purely in the interests of clarification, George, to the best of your belief is LuaLaTeX 100% compatible with PdfLaTeX ?  I do not mean, of course, "is it a superset of PdfLaTeX" (that would be both expected and reasonable), but for all possible PdfLaTeX sources that generate no errors or warnings in PdfLaTeX, will PdfLaTeX and LuaLaTeX yield identical PDFs ?
