tcsh vs bash

I've switched to a Linux Mint installation and, after installing TL,
everything works. Good. But now I want to switch to using tcsh as my SHELL
and then nothing works. The PATH variable is OK and the main difference in
the output of tlmgr conf in tcsh is the following:

=========================== active config files ==========================
Missing argument in sprintf at /usr/local/bin/tlmgr line 6461.
config.ps: Missing argument in sprintf at /usr/local/bin/tlmgr line
6461.
fmtutil.cnf: Missing argument in sprintf at /usr/local/bin/tlmgr line
6461.
mktex.cnf: Missing argument in sprintf at /usr/local/bin/tlmgr line
6461.
pdftexconfig.tex: texmf.cnf:        /usr/local/texlive/2021/texmf.cnf
texmf.cnf:        /usr/local/texlive/2021/texmf-dist/web2c/texmf.cnf

 "Missing argument in sprintf" ! What is going on?
