Test post

Trying to continue the dialogue with Norbert from my Royal Holloway a/c is proving impossible — the university has elected to have all e-mails intercepted by Microsoft and all URLs mutated into something totally impenetrable, which not only causes my browser to report a probable phishing attempt every time that I click on a link, it also makes messages impossibly verbose.  I am therefore testing whether I can post to this list from a private e-mail address using my own SMTP relay, and which takes all replies via Gmail.

Just to demonstrate the impossibility of understanding e-mails via my university a/c, I append the most recent.  If this test is successful, all subsequent messages from me to this list (and analogous lists) will come from this account, which will also avoid the equally unpleasant forced insertion of [EXT] into all received subject lines.

Incidentally, I cannot find the "texcollection" list at https://tug.org/mailman/listinfo, so do not know how to subscribe to it, nor whether this message will reach it.
