System: Windows 10, Tex Live 2019

I am using mpost and mptopdf to create PDF drawings.

For example,

> vim my_figure.mp
(create figures)
> mpost my_figure.mp
This is MetaPost, version 2.0 (Tex Live 2019/W32Tex)
...
20 output files written to: my_figure.1 .. my_figure.20
Transcript written on my_figure.log.
> mptopdf my_figure.*
(lots of output messages)
MPtoPDF 1.4.1 : my_figure.* is converted to my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf
+ my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf +
my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf +
my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf +
my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf +
my_figure.pdf + my_figure.pdf

As you can see, instead of generating my_figure-1.pdf ... my_figure-20.pdf,
all the converted files are written to my_figure.pdf, overwriting the
previous figures.

I have not had this problem before with earlier versions of TeX Live.
Has the behavior of mptopdf changed recently, or is there something wrong
with my installation of TeX Live 2019?
