Yes indeed. It took us a bit of time to set up a machine where it was
possible to reproduce this bug. Seems a rather new
glibc/compiler/whatever is needed to make this actually break.

I didn't remember that message, but it turned out that it was indeed
there where it broke, but the reason was the insufficient allocation.
