[tex-live] TeX Live 2008 installer hangs at "Installing zwgetfdate"

I have now twice tried to install TeX Live 2008 on my Windows 7 Ultimate 
system (16Gb, i7 processor), and on both occasions it has hung having 
reported "Installing zwgetfdate".  Can anyone remember sufficiently far 
back to advise if there are additional debugging options I can invoke so 
as to better be able to identify the source of the problem ?  Perl uses 
25% of available CPU and never progresses further.
