The pretest release has been published *in order* to allow everybody
to test it.  Many poeple tested it already and it obviously works.
And believe me, developers test their stuff before they upload it.

Furthermore, I don't remember any TeX Live release that didn't work.

If it's too difficult to enter the repository URL you might want to
wait for the final release.
