[tex-live] fmtutil and recreating a format file

Hi texlive,

I'm trying to recreate my pdflatex format with more main_memory.pdflatex =
5000000

1. I added to the file /usr/local/texlive/2010/texmf.cnf

   main_memory.pdflatex = 5000000

2. Ran the following to rebuild the format

   sudo fmtutil --byfmt pdflatex.fmt

3.  nothing seemed to happen to the format pdflatex.fmt in
/usr/local/texlive/2010/texmf-var/web2c/pdftex/pdflatex.fmt

I'm running on Ubuntu ... a 2010 distro.
