Yes, true. But try
	texdoc amsmath
and you will get amsldoc and no warning.

That is probably a broken setting of your desktop
trying to use the browser to open a pdf. On TL2013
the file that is selected by texdoc is
which is easily to be seen from
$ texdoc -l perl
 1 /home/norbert/tl/2013/texmf-dist/doc/support/pedigree-perl/doc/pedigree.pdf
   = Package documentation
 2 /home/norbert/tl/2013/texmf-dist/doc/support/pedigree-perl/doc/pedigree.ps
 3 /home/norbert/tl/2013/texmf-dist/doc/support/pedigree-perl/README
 4 /home/norbert/tl/2013/texmf-dist/doc/support/pedigree-perl/NEWS
Please enter the number of the file to view, anything else to skip: texdoc ^C

I cannot confirm.

Sorry, by crystal sphere is not clear enough at the moment, but
my wild guess is that:
* you have installed some special plugins/extensions of firefox
* firefox got updated on system level
* the extensions became incompatible or worse
But fundamentally I don't believe that it has *naything* to do
with firefox. It should open a pdf viewer.
