[tex-live] Strange behaviour between two Macs

Hi all,

I have observed a strange behavior when processing a document on two different Macs: on my laptop MacBookPro running 10.7.3 with TeXLive2011 the document comes out correctly. On a MacPro with 10.7.3 and the same TeXLive2011 distribution the printed document looks different. The typesetting is identical, but the spacing of the document is off: the text starts further down the page and more to the left and the interline spacing is different, so the text runs off the page.
This behavior does not depend on whether I use pdflatex or tex->dvi->pdf, and it does not depend on which previewer I use.

So I am a bit at a loss here. Are there any hidden options somewhere that I am not aware of?
