Hi Jean-Claude,

your descriptions hint that you are using the Debian/Ubuntu
packages of TeX Live, not TeX Live itself.

In this case I suggest contacting the Ubuntu Forums or any other
Ubuntu related place.

is not helpful at all. The real error is further up the
terminal.

I guess that some format generation failed, but without a *FULL* termainl
output of a run of
	dpkg --configure -a
I cannot say more.

For this you can use TeX Live upstream, and only install collection-xetex,
but it will amount to about the same.
