Can anyone explain why I'm getting 6.9 MB texworks updates on OS X via
tlmgr, when the texworks binary is not installed? Mac OS X 10.6.7, TL
2010 installed via MacTeX. It looks like it's all documentation and
auxiliary files, but it doesn't remove easily:

$ sudo tlmgr remove collection-texworks
Password:
tlmgr: not removing collection-texworks, needed by scheme-full scheme-gust scheme-medium

The waste of disk space isn't a big deal, but these downloads add up...

$ time sudo tlmgr update collection-texworks
tlmgr: package repository ftp://indian.cse.msu.edu/pub/mirrors/CTAN/systems/texlive/tlnet
tlmgr: saving backups to /usr/local/texlive/2010/tlpkg/backups
[1/1, ??:??/??:??] update: texworks [6775k] (21842 -> 21873) ... done
tlmgr: package log updated at /usr/local/texlive/2010/texmf-var/web2c/tlmgr.log
running mktexlsr ...
done running mktexlsr.
