I get this:

[taco at ntg tmp]$ kpsewhich --progname=context --engine=pdftex cont-en.fmt
/home/taco/texlive/2010/texmf-var/web2c/pdftex/cont-en.fmt
[taco at ntg tmp]$ kpsewhich --progname=context --engine=xetex cont-en.fmt
/home/taco/texlive/2010/texmf-var/web2c/xetex/cont-en.fmt

The formats were generated during installation yesterday (with
install-tl) and updated this morning (with tlmgr). So the question
is: how old are these formats you have in ~/.texlive2010 and how were
they generated?

As an aside: ~/.texlive2010 does have the mkiv format:

texmf-var/luatex-cache/context/4a9191a1bbde828d2edd337080aa03ee/formats/cont-en.fmt

but that is how it should be.

Best wishes,
Taco
