  A piece of advice: if you can use pdfTeX, don't use the mxedruli fonts
at all.  Better to make the ucs package work with Unicode-encoded
TrueType fonts that can be directly processed by pdfTeX: you can produce
a PDF where the glyphs will (hopefully) be mapped directly to their
Unicode code points, which is far from done with Metafont fonts.
