Yes, currently, but also --repository is broken, all the ways to set
the location on the cmd line only for one run are broken ATM. 

So whatever people do, those having the version from yesterday or today
installed AND relying on cmd line -locatio parameter (as it is with
TLU) will need to update in a different way (as I described).

BTW, why don't you set the parameter to the default once in TLU?

I believe that it is a pain keeping that, sorry for that, hopefully not
soooo many things will change next year, but ... you know.
