Maybe, but only after quite a lot of extra work. As you know,
metapost does not create bitmaps, and the graphics it produces
are not easy to convert to a font-format either. On top of that,
it is not 100% compatible with metafont. Too much work for me,
especially compared to the (imho very small) gain of being able
to use .mf directly.
