[tex-live] Problems updating TL on Cygwin?

What I can say is that it did not happen with tlmgr.pl. timestamps 
19122008. (the current has t.s. 23122008)

Now it happens also installing from scratch: at the start of 
installation, after tyyping 'i', there is "no available_architectures, 
continuing anyway..."

Could it be a problem of TLPDB.pm (timestamps 20122008)? Indeed in my OP 
I see

no available_architectures, continuing anyway ... at
/usr/local/texlive/2008/tlpkg/TeXLive/TLPDB.pm line 1239, <TMP> line 216619

repeated four times.
