[tex-live] typos in man pages

werner,

how can I find out the people reponsible for a given man page?

For example, there are some serious typos in amstex.1 (see the patch
    below).

although the source of amstex itself is the
ams, i can't find any indication that the man
file originated here. the oldest copy we have
is one distributed with tetex in (i believe)
2006. the bottom of the file says
  Web2C 7.5.6 Last change: 27 December 1992
so it is definitely not recent.

this is woefully out of date, and contains
other errors in addition to the technical ones
you pointed out. ams-latex has superseded
amstex as the "official" typesetting system
of the ams (if "official" is interpreted as
the system used for journal production), a
switchover which occurred pre-2000. there is
no man page for ams-latex or amsmath, although
amsmath.sty is mentioned in the man page text.

my question is, should this page be updated
or simply scrapped? i'm not sufficiently fluent
in creating man pages to do anything useful.
suggestions?

Shall I send patches to this list? Shall I fix it immediately in
TeXLive? I assume that the PDF files of the man pages are then
    regenerated automatically, right?

if this page is to be retained, then there
really should be some more changes besides
the ones shown here.
