Hi all,

testing the new texlive I found something strange ...
Aehmm, I never checked before, but installing on UNIX into
	/home/norbert/tl test/2008
and then calling the (right) fmtutil-sys --all gives me:
mv: cannot move `mf.log' to `/home/norbert/tl test/2008/texmf-var/web2c/metafont/mf.log': No such file or directory
mv: cannot move `mf.base' to `/home/norbert/tl test/2008/texmf-var/web2c/metafont/mf.base': No such file or directory

I have to CREATE .../web2c/metafont (and pdftex etc in advance!!!), then
it works.

It seems that fmtutil somewhere on the way does not create directories.

Jonathan, could we have introduced this bug when we patched the support
for web2c/$engine/ ...

Best wishes
