This is an auxilliary program for inserting nonbreakable spaces after
nonsyllabic prepositions which is a requirement of Czech and Slovak
orthography (so this is not only typographical issue but also an
orthographical rule which every kid is taught at school). Thus "v
lese" should be written in TeX as "v~lese". Since such prepositions
are frequent in Czech and Slovak. An auxilliary program vlna was
developed to add nonbreakable spaces. Of course this replacement
should not happen in math and verbatim and vlna tries to cope with
that. It is thus needed for all formats (plain TeX, LaTeX, ConTeXt)
and on oll platforms.

There is another possible solution. Petr Olsak implemented (almost)
the same functionality in encTeX in file vlna.tex. The advantage is
that it recognizes verbatim by \catcode and math by \ifmmode so that
it can safely recognize user defined environments. Petr Olsak's
vlna.tex has problems in LaTeX in moving arguments, \chapter{V lese}
would cause a fatal error during the second and subsequent runs. There
is also a conflict with the microtype package. These problems are
solved in my vlna.sty which I have recently published on my site
http://icebearsoft.euweb.cz/tex/

So this is a reliable solution for those who are not afraid of enabling encTeX.

Of course, the functionality could also be implemented in LUA.
