Hi all,

I tested TL (texlivetest2006-inst-20070103.iso) on a new Windows XP
(full install with perl & ghostscript). There are two problems with
dviout.

1) As soon as the _hyperref_ package is included, dviout complains
about an unknown special and gives a message box:

>Failed to make tmpps1.pbm by the command
> C:\gs\gs8.54\bin\gswin32c.exe @tmp$.@@@
>
>The file tmp$.@@@ is a paramater file

On using _Retry_ one gets the full message

>C:\ULPIR>C:\gs\gs8.54\bin\gswin32c.exe @tmp$.@@@
>Error: /undefined in SDict
>Operand stack:
>
>Execution stack:
> %interp_exit .runexec2 --nostringval-- --nostringval-- --nostringval-
>- 2 %stopped_push --nostringval-- --nostringval-- --nostringval-- fa
>lse 1 %stopped_push 1 3 %oparray_pop 1 3 %oparray_pop 1 3
>%oparray_pop 1 3 %oparray_pop .runexec2 --nostringval-- --nostringva
>l-- --nostringval-- 2 %stopped_push --nostringval--
>Dictionary stack:
> --dict:1124/1686(ro)(G)-- --dict:0/20(G)-- --dict:70/200(L)--
>Current allocation mode is local
>Current file position is 21
>GPL Ghostscript 8.54: Unrecoverable error, exit code 1

2) As soon as non-standard fonts are used (tried pxfonts-,
txfonts-packages), the font creation process fails with the
   following error message

>C:\ULPIR>C:\TeXLive2006\bin\win32\mktexpk.exe --dpi 1493 --bdpi 600 --mag 2+293/
>600 --destdir C:\TeXLive2006\texmf-var\fonts\pk\t1xbss t1xbss
>mktexmf: empty or non-existent rootfile!
>mktexpk: don't know how to create bitmap font for t1xbss.

Chosing _Ignore_ dviout shows empty pages and goes on giving
   messages like:

>Searched C:\TeXLive2006\texmf-var\fonts\tfm\\t1xbss.tfm
>Searched C:\TeXLive2006\texmf-var\fonts\pk\\t1xbss.720pk
>Searched C:\TeXLive2006\texmf-var\fonts\pk\\t1xbss.721pk

in the status window. PS-file creation via _dvips_ works - with the
   right fonts being used.

Furthermore it would be nice to have dviout added to the PATH during
installation, as even Windows users might sometimes prefer the use of
command line and (X)Emacs...

And finally a big THANKS to all the developers & maintainers - you
are doing a terrific job.

Gregor
