[tex-live] catalogue files seams to be not synchronized with packages

i should have made it clear that i was talking about ctan. aiui, you
were complaining that we don't have k-s 2.96. any such failure is
because we've not had 2.96 submitted to us. perhaps you would rather we
didn't hold k-s?

which catalogue are we talking about, now? if you mean the ctan
catalogue, retrieve the latest xml files from dante.de and every day
you'll find a few more have had their distribution tags updated/
corrected. (every day i've had time to work on the catalogue, that
is.) this is a process that is unlikely to complete soon. there are
thousands of entries in the catalogue that are yet to be checked, and
yesterday i managed 10.
i believe, however, that every catalogue entry distribution tag is at
least superficially correct (i.e., it doesn't point into the void).
of course, there's also the fun i have when the new tex-live is actually
released and i have to check every one of the the texlive tags in the
catalogue :-}
