    this is a graphics-tds from texlive

There is no "graphics-tds" per se in TL, either.  I assume Gerben means
the graphics from Heikos' tdsified LaTeX.

And yes, I believe that .def removal was a change in August sometime
(for Heiko's pkg, not original latex).  In any case, that's when it
trickled down to me -- I sent my earlier msg about the .def files on 23aug.
