[tex-live] texlive 2005 failed on CJK font finding

Hmm, do you mean dvipdfmx?  This is far better than dvipdfm.

ttf2pk.cfg is located in texmf/ttf2pk/; it loads ttfonts.map which sits
in fonts/map/ttf2pk/config/.

Either add your personal map file to ttf2pk.cfg or extend ttfonts.map.
