    But the C function aclose() is called directly from the web
    source,  so it cannot be aliased in a header file (and a hook is
    required because pipes have to be closed with pclose()).

It's easy enough to change the change/header/c files however it works
out best for this purpose, of course.  It would be nice to have this
function generally available.

You're probably in the best position to make the patch ... ?
