mathpazo.tpm contains many font files (pfb, afm, vf, tfm) and one LaTeX
input file: texmf-dist/tex/latex/mathpazo/ufplm.fd. Most likely this is
either a duplicate or an older version of the corresponding file in
psnfss.tpm: texmf-dist/tex/latex/psnfss/ufplm.fd. I would therefore
suggest removing ufplm.fd from mathpazo.tpm. In addition I think that
fonts-recommended would be more appropriate for mathpazo.tpm, since all
other fonts that PSNFSS asks for are (going to be) part of this
colleciton.

What is the point of this package, anyway? It seems to contain only
source files, whereas the actual pdftex.def is in graphics.tpm where it
belongs.

Speeking of pdftex.def. Recently pdftex.def acquired some new code to
give sensible error messages when the files needed for MetaPost->PDF
translation (supp-mis.tex and supp-pdf.tex from ConTeXt) are not
available. I think this was triggered by an error in the teTeX-splitting
done by SuSE. These two files are part of a separate ConTeXt package. I
don't know about TL proper, but TL in Debian seems to have the same
defect. One can install LaTeX and MetaPost, but without installing
ConTeXt, one won't be able to include MPS files directly. Maybe one
could put these two files into the MetaPost collection instead?
