I downloaded the latest test image (2006-12-17), but unfortunately 
installation failed on my machine (iMac G5 running Mac OS X 10.4.8). 
First off, I had the following (apparently non fatal) mistake:

Initializing collections... install-tl.sh: line 1: 
P_@=collection_texinfo: command not found

Then installation proceeded, but it stalled at the following point:

Done unpacking.
Fixing permissions in /usr/local/texlive/2006... done.
Setting up directories for automatic font creation... done.
Configuring fmtutil.cnf from /usr/local/texlive/2006/texmf/web2c  into 
/usr/local/texlive/2006/texmf-var/web2c...
Setting local tree (TEXMFLOCAL) to $SELFAUTOPARENT/../texmf-local in 
/usr/local/texlive/2006/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf...
Setting system var tree (TEXMFSYSVAR) to $SELFAUTOPARENT/texmf-var in 
/usr/local/texlive/2006/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf...
Setting the user texmf home (TEXMFHOME) to $HOME/$HOME/texmf in 
/usr/local/texlive/2006/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf...
Done fixing texmf.cnf.
Testing for /usr/local/texlive/2006/bin/powerpc-darwin/texconfig....
Making language.dat in /usr/local/texlive/2006/texmf-var/tex/generic/config
  from your language selections...
Updating filename database with mktexlsr...

(I killed it after more than an hour without getting back the prompt.)

Any suggestions anybody?

P.S. Before this, I had succesfully installed the 2006-11-21 test image, 
which I'm actually using without a glitch.
