[tex-live] Greek: missmatch of .fd-file and map

This is a copy of a mail I just sent to Apostolos. I think he should
solve the problem that arose from his renaming of the fontfiles, but
maybe for TeXLive2005 it would be possible to make Greek run right out
of the box without everyone fiddling in the files?

-------------------------\
Hello Apostolos,

I try to use the betababel package just to typeset some greek words in
my thesis. This used to work fine, but after an update to TeXLive2005
(beta 2005-10-05) I get error messages like the following:

! Font LGR/cmr/m/n/10.95=grmn1095 at 10.95pt not loadable: Metric (TFM)
file no
t found.
<to be read again>
                  relax
l.501 ({\bcode{a)/gnoia}
                       ) oder sogar ">Unverstand, Torheit,

Finally I get /agnoia/ typeset in "nullfont" which isn't much more than
nothing.

In the German usenet I've been told that the .fd-file doesn't match the
.map-file. The fd points to grmn, but map only knows grmn1000. A
solution I have not tested yet might be to change inside lgrcmr
\EC at family{LGR}{cmr}{m}{n} {grmn}     to
\DeclareFontShape{LGR}{cmr}{m}{n}{<-> grmn1000}{}

Maybe you can change the official package to ensure it runs out of the
box again???

Thanks for providing the beautiful Greek typeface!

Sincerely, Georg

Thanks in advance!

Georg
