Oops... I had looked in an older version of my tree. Yes, after the
discussion, that the separation into euler / symbols etc. was not needed
for the ams fonts, I had moved the files around:

  map/dvips/ams
  source/public/ams
  tfm/public/ams
  type1/bluesky/ams

That public/cm vs. public/cmextra is not affected by this and still
separate in my tree.
