Relative to Karl's question, that wasn't the full list of files with problems.
The full transcript of the installation is included at the bottom.
Relative to the zip version bundled with FC3,
[]$ unzip -v

I mounted the iso as follows:
mount -t iso9660 -o ro,loop /usr/local/texlive/test-texlive2004-live-20041120.iso /mnt/texlive
If I look at /mnt/texlive/archive/bin-latex.i386-linux.zip, I get the following:
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 396 Nov 19 21:48 /mnt/texlive/archive/bin-latex.i386-linux.zip
If I unzip /mnt/texlive/archive/bin-latex.i386-linux.zip directly, I get the following:
Archive: /mnt/texlive/archive/bin-latex.i386-linux.zip
linking: bin/i386-linux/latex warning: symbolic link (bin/i386-linux/latex) failed
error: zipfile probably corrupt (segmentation violation)
Hope that helps.
