Can you grab some of the zip files by hand from the CD and test them? 
The only
two possibilities are that the zip files are genuinely corrupt (seems 
very unlikely)
or that your copy of unzip is weird. Again, given the stability of zip 
over quite some years,
this too seems unlikely.

we have changed nothing of this part of the system, and I have not seen any
report before like this, so its puzzling. FC3 should not be that 
different from
other systems.
