I haven't seen anyone saying anything about latexmk ...
In short latexmk is a perl script for ensuring full update of latex files.
That is making sure all crossreferences and citations and indexes are upto
date, that is running latex the apropriate number of times needed.
Basically http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/support/latexmk/ says it all
I find it very usefull and have taught several people to use it with great
succes. Particularly the continuously preview is nice to have when
correcting spelling errors.
Though it needs a perl installation.
