maybe true. but sometimes we have to accept that the world is not doing
the right thing, and we have to decide whether to join in, or fight.
There are so many battles like this, is dvi the thing you'll go to the
scaffold for?

I think anyone who read that long discussion about tcx, enctex, etc
would conclude that TeX has serious i18n problems :-}

I think that killing it is not what is proposed. it is simply making
decisions about what goes into a genuinely minimal TeX

vi, with no fonts, no picture inclusion, no standard
color/linking/graphics is simply not competing with PDF. it does
something different. I, for one, don't want _both_.
