Well, I can use that directory for
  make -f Makefile.tetex update
  make -f Makefile.tetex doc
  make -f Makefile.tetex install
  make -f Makefile.tetex clean

That saves me a lot of time. I could, in theory, have a script for
packaging tetex-texmfsrc and I could have an exception list, but
currently, I only tar up my directory. This is so simple and convenient.
