compilation from sources Feb 12 on:
tug.org/home/staw/i386-linux.tar.bz2

1. texconfig
/usr/TeX/bin/i386-linux/texconfig: syntax error near unexpected token `;'
/usr/TeX/bin/i386-linux/texconfig: /usr/TeX/bin/i386-linux/texconfig: line 66: `DO_TEXLINKS=true;;'

but it is just copy from source/TeX/texk/tetex/

2. web2c/fmtutil.cnf contains
latex tex language.dat latex.ini
but bin/.../latex->etex

so please change fmtutil.cnf or making ln
