Neither the texmf/doc/tldoc documentation (live.pdf) nor the README files, 
nor the internal documentation mention the fact that the install script 
makes assumptions about the umask in the environment from which it is run, 
and invoked with a umask of, say, 077, install-cd.sh does not make 
necessary corrections when copying files so that the directories will have 
the execute bit set, which later causes problems when setting up the fonts 
and everything.

Either inserting the line 'umask 22' at the top of install-cd.sh or 
mentioning the issue of file permissions in the install instructions would 
probably save some headaches and confusion somewhere down the line.
