Isn't there an implicit cast in the 32/64 cases? Why is there a need to
do anything explicit? It is ugly.
The int/pointer cases surprise me. That should cause real failures.
I'd like to see those for sure.

Well, I'm the only maintainer involved in this case, and I'm certainly
not going to change all the types in kpathsea. Casts are better than
